Building Trust Among Our Clients

Get to know our friendly, hardworking owner

At JWS Contracting & Remodeling, we believe that knowing who you're working with during your remodel is important. Here, you'll find honest answers about our owner and what to expect when you partner with our company:

Q: What's your role at JWS Contracting & Remodeling LLC, and what does a typical day look like for you?

A: I am the owner and operator of the business. A typical day for me involves fulfilling a variety of roles and responsibilities such as consultations, scheduling, creating estimates and invoicing, administrative duties, accounting, marketing and taking phone calls. I also handle all of the major fieldwork. Everything from general contracting for large jobs to grunt work for smaller projects.

Q: How did you get started in the construction and remodeling industry?

A: I got my start on an Amish framing crew building houses, siding, roofing and building decks. I also spent 6 months with a Mennonite roofer learning that trade. It gave me a great start to learning the ins and outs of construction and how to build from the ground up. I'm a big-picture/ hands-on person, so that was the perfect way for me to see and understand everything.

Q: What's your favorite type of project to work on, and why?

A: My favorite type of project is custom renovations. I'm very creative, artistic and a visionary. I can see a concept from beginning to end. So, I do all of the planning, designing and product selections with my clients and enjoy the opportunities I get to use my artistic background when the job allows for it.

Q: What's one tool or piece of equipment you can't live without on the job site?

A: A tape measure or multi-tool. Even if I forget something or need a quick tool option, a multi-tool can get me out of a variety of circumstances or situations.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working with clients on remodeling projects?

A: Making their overall dream, concept or vision come to life. There's nothing more rewarding than to stand back and look at the work of your hands and what both you, your team and the client accomplished.

Q: Can you share a memorable moment or project that really stuck with you?

A: I had the privilege of spending 7 months in one house doing custom work in every room. It was the second major project I had when I first got my start, and it gave me the confidence I have today to know I can succeed in this kind of industry. To know I can meet the demands and expectations and compete at that level.

Q: What do you like to do when you're not on the job site? (Hobbies, interests, etc.)

A: Music, art, writing and sports have always been a big part of my life. I have been a drummer since 3rd grade. I did everything from concert band, jazz band and drumline. In addition to that, I have been drumming on Worship teams since Middle School. So, if I'm not playing for church, I'm banging away to some of my favorite progressive metal/ rock bands like Tessaract or playing frisbee golf. I've always had a love for Martial Arts and was a qualified Black Belt when I was younger, and I would love to do more with that these days.
